Portions into Proportions
The good news is that while a grilled steak is certainly a summer treat, steak is more than just a simple pleasure!
Canadian beef is one of the best examples of a nutrient-rich food. That means, for a moderate number of calories, beef serves up quality protein, plus 13 other essential vitamins and minerals. Lean beef is so nutrient-rich you don’t need a large portion to get a whole lot of essential nutrients.
Here are some simple steps you can take to ensure your meals are kept in proper proportions:
- Start off with a plate that’s not too big such as a salad plate.
- Dedicate one-quarter of the plate to a startch like spring’s new mini potatoes or a grain like brown rice.
- Reserve a second quarter section for lean protein, like a trim Beef Strip Loin Grilling Medallion.
- Use the remaining half section for veggies or even some fruit – how about a salad of mixed greens with sweet red pepper, grated carrot and mango slices.
