LOUIS' COLA-KIWI STEAKS

In memory of a great guy who believed that everything tasted better when cooked (or consumed) with cola. Louis, this one’s for you!

INGREDIENTS
1 lb   500 g   ROUND, SIRLOIN TIP or FLANK MARINATING STEAK
1   1   kiwi, peeled
1 cup   250 mL   cola beverage
1 1/2 tsp   7 mL   lemon pepper

PREPARATION TIME: 5 minutes
COOKING TIME: 10 - 12 minutes
MARINATING TIME: 30 minutes

DIRECTIONS
Place kiwi in Ziploc® freezer bag and seal tightly. Mash kiwi to a pulp in bag. Add cola and combine with kiwi by massaging mixture together. Pierce steak numerous times with a fork. Add steak to Ziploc® freezer bag, seal and marinate in refrigerator for 30 minutes (no longer or meat will go mushy), turning bag over once or twice. Meanwhile, preheat BBQ or broiler. Discard marinade. Season steak with lemon pepper and BBQ or broil for 5-6 minutes per side, until it reaches desired doneness.
