[Home]  TROPICAL STEAK WITH FRUIT SALSA
A great compliment to grilled steak, this subtle, sweet and spicy salsa is so easy to prepare with diced pineapple and jalapeno sauce.

Prep Time: 10 min. Cook Time: 8 min.

3 tbsp 45 mL jalapeno sauce
1 - 1½ lbs 500 - 750 g BEEF Sirloin Steak (¾"/2 cm thick)
1 1 can (14 oz./398 mL) pineapple tidbits
1 cup 250 mL diced cucumber
½ cup 125 mL EACH sliced green onion and chopped seeded tomato
2 tbsp 30 mL lime juice
¼ cup 50 mL chopped coriander (optional)

Brush 2 tbsp (30 mL) jalapeno sauce on both sides of steak; let stand while preparing salsa. Mix pineapple, remaining 1 tbsp (15 mL) jalapeno sauce, cucumber, onion, tomato, lime juice and coriander, if using. Grill steak 6-8 minutes or until desired doneness, turning only once. Slice diagonally across the grain and serve with fruit salsa.

Makes 4-6 servings.

TIP:  To save time use small garden cucumbers - they have tender skins that dont need peeling. To spice up the salsa, simply add more jalapeno sauce.
