[Home]  THAI BEEF SATAY
A simple version of a traditional Thai favourite. This wonderful blend of flavours works great on kabobs too.

Prep Time: 10 min.
Cook Time: 6 to 8 min.
Marinating Time: 15 min.

1 lb 500 g Fast Fry or Sirloin Steak cut into long strips, ½ inch (1 cm) wide
3 tbsp 45 mL peanut butter
2 tbsp 30 mL EACH soy sauce and lemon juice
1 tbsp 15 mL brown sugar
½ tsp 2 mL EACH minced garlic and ground ginger
¼ tsp 1 mL hot pepper flakes

Soak wooden skewers in water for at least 10 minutes to prevent charring. In medium bowl, whisk together peanut butter, soy sauce, lemon juice, brown sugar, garlic, ginger and pepper. Whisk in 2 tbsp (30 mL) water until smooth. Stir in beef strips until coated. Let stand at room temperature for up to 15 minutes. Thread strips loosely onto wooden skewers. Broil or grill 3 to 4 minutes each side.

Makes 4 servings.

TIP:  Marinate for up to two hours for enhanced flavour. 2 tsp (10 mL) Thai Seasoning can be substituted for garlic, ginger and hot pepper flakes.
