Spice up those last minute meals with this quick version of a time honoured Greek tradition.

Prep Time: 10 min. Cook Time: 5 min.
 
1 lb 500 g Sirloin Tip or Inside Round Steak, cut ¾ inch (1 cm) thick
1½ tsp 7 mL dried oregano leaves or Italian seasoning
1 tsp 5 mL minced garlic (1 clove) or 1/2 tsp (2 mL) garlic powder
¼ tsp 1 mL freshly ground pepper
1 tsp 5 mL olive oil
¼ cup 50 mL lemon Juice
		   
Sauce  
 
1/3 cup 75 mL plain yogurt
2 tsp 10 mL dill pickle juice
½ tsp 2 mL minced garlic or 1/4 tsp (1 mL) garlic powder

Combine spices and oil and press firmly onto both sides of steak. Cut meat into 1 inch (2.5 cm) cubes and toss with lemon juice; let stand 5 minutes. Thread on skewers. Broil or grill on medium heat about 5 minutes, turning once. (Do not overcook.) Combine sauce ingredients and serve with skewered beef.

Makes 4 servings.

TIP:  Dill pickle juice can be replaced with 1 tsp (5 mL) red wine vinegar and ¼ tsp (1 mL) dried dill weed.
