In this issue, Dr. Adam Drewnowski focuses on the Nutrient Rich Food (NRF) Index, a nutrient profiling system developed to guide consumers in making nutrient-dense food choices. The idea is that each food is assigned a unique score that reflects nutrient quality, in order to help consumers make healthier food choices. The Nutrient Rich Food Index stands apart as being a nutrient profiling system that is simple, transparent, validated against objective measures of healthy eating and linked to the Nutrition Facts table.
