BIC Launches New Promotional and Educational Materials

The Beef Information Centre (BIC) is launching a number of new promotional and educational materials for the foodservice industry this fall.

“Information is our middle name,” says Marty Carpenter, BIC’s National Foodservice Manager, “and our goal is to provide the foodservice industry the resources and educational materials that will help them create successful Canadian beef programs.”

BIC has produced promotional materials in the past, including the popular newsletter - Beef Up Your Business. These new materials are updated and revised based on industry feedback and feature a consistent look.

The following materials are available free of charge to members of the foodservice industry working with Canadian beef.

Beef Cuts Chart – a fold out chart detailing foodservice beef cuts, including photos and cooking instructions.

Steak Kits – this is a key resource for any operation with a steak program – the kit includes a 6-page full colour brochure with information from cuts to cooking to testing for doneness. A wall poster with full colour photos showing doneness levels, and individual waiter cards to educate wait staff. Steak cutting guides are also included in the kit.

Safe Food Handling Brochure – a six-page brochure on handling beef safely in restaurant operations.

Independent Restaurant Promotional Kits – these kits are designed to provide ideas and materials to promote Canadian beef at independent restaurant operations. Kits include tabletop displays, promotional ideas and information on what to look for in a beef program.

Wonderful photographs of new beef menu items are featured in the creatively designed materials produced by Hangar 18, a design group from Vancouver. “The tagline for Canadian beef is - Flavour at its best” says Chris Dallin of Hangar 18 “and the look and feel of these materials really support that image.”
