BIC Redesigns Website to Help Visitors Find Information and Resources More Easily

Information on all matters related to beef is now a click of your mouse away on the Beef Information Centre’s (BIC) redesigned website. With over 15,000 visitors a month it was considered important by the organization’s Communications Team that BIC enhance the resource centre and improve a visitor’s ability to navigate through the site quickly.

“The main feature of the site redesign was a reorganization of our resources,” explained Marg Thibeault, BIC National Communications Manager. “The new Resource Centre contains over 100 items conveniently organized into consumer, health professional, educator, foodservice and retail sections so browsers can easily find items suitable to their needs.”

A registration system for ordering resources has also been introduced. “Once a visitor registers, it allows quick and easy check-in on future visits to the site,” stated Thibeault. “By identifying a category that best describes you - whether it be a consumer, educator or industry member - resources are then tailored to your needs and interest.”

Other enhancements of the site are:

  • Reorganization of left navigation bar with rollovers which highlight the content of the sections. Recipe Centre is now a rollover in the Buying and Cooking section
  • Resources are featured throughout the site and can be ordered from the page you’re on
  • “New” and “Updated” resources are clearly identified
  • A new Health Professional section maintained by BIC’s team of registered dietitians includes resources and nutrition research
  • Revitalized foodservice section created especially for foodservice operators
