Quality Based Branded Beef programs are a rapidly growing facet of the meat industry. It is estimated that over 50% of the nation's beef is now sold as "Branded Beef."
Consumer demands are a priority, with suppliers striving to provide a convenient, healthy, taste-satisfying and consistent eating experience. Branded programs are a key area in satisfying consumer needs.
A definition of a branded product is "A branded product delivers a promise or guarantee to the consumer." The "promise" may come in the form of taste, tenderness, product consistency, as well as juiciness, flavour and/or satisfaction guaranteed or product purchase is refunded.
Consumer research has confirmed that taste and tenderness, more than any other factors, determine the degree of customer satisfaction when enjoying beef. Studies show that consumers are willing to pay a premium if quality and tenderness are guaranteed. 69% were "very" or "somewhat likely" to pay more for these attributes.
