Recent research has shown that lean beef can be included in effective cholesterol-lowering diets. Studies suggest that lower fat diets that include lean beef are just as effective in lowering total blood cholesterol as lower fat diets that include chicken or fish.

- Enjoy a variety of foods from Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating.
- Eat a variety of vegetables, fruit, whole grains, leaner meats and lower-fat dairy products.
- Trim visible fat.
- Use lower fat cooking methods - broil, barbecue, grill, roast or microwave on a rack or stir-fry in a non-stick pan.
- Use added fats like oil, gravy, cream sauces & mayonnaise in moderation.
